Cost reduction in the automation of the painted surface appearance inspection process.
Visual inspection of painted surfaces is the mainstream! There is a growing demand for automation and skill reduction.
Recently, customer demands for product quality have been increasing not only for the functionality and performance of products but also for the appearance design quality, such as the need for a flawless and beautiful surface. Visual inspection of painted surfaces is primarily conducted through manual inspection, where inspectors rely on their senses and experience to judge various subtle defects. This process requires skill, know-how, and a high level of concentration, leading to variability in the appearance design quality of products due to its subjective nature. In this context, the recent decline in the labor force, particularly the decrease in skilled workers and the challenges in ensuring stable employment, has led to a growing demand for the automation and de-skilling of visual inspections for painted surfaces. Therefore, we would like to introduce an automated appearance inspection system using a general-purpose robot developed by Kawasaki Heavy Industries, taking the visual inspection of painted surfaces as an example. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related catalog.
