The "Sky Dome" is a modular formwork system designed to create a dome-shaped concrete ceiling with a waffle pattern. This shape allows for a reduction in slab weight and improves seismic resistance through robust T-shaped rib cross-sections, enabling the construction of large-span structural frameworks with minimal columns and beams. The Sky Dome was adopted for the construction of the 4,500 square meter bidirectional lightweight slab of the multipurpose building "Le Nuage," designed by Philippe Starck in Montpellier, France.
