[Application Example] Achieving the movement of a single atom

This presentation will introduce an application example of achieving the movement of single atoms using an AWG card at the Department of Physics, University of California, San Diego. There are challenges in investigating the quantum behavior of electrons within an ion lattice, and the solution being developed in the department involves constructing a slightly larger model using observable components of atoms moving within an optical lattice. The challenge of this solution is to cool the atoms to near absolute zero and to move them to a triangular lattice structure using laser light pulses. The laser light pulses must have virtually no noise in the control signals of the laser beams and need to be ultra-high precision. To achieve this, the Spectrum M4i.6622-x8 arbitrary waveform generator is used.
