Real-time and high-precision measurement of snow depth! "ALPHIoT POWER" has been adopted as the power source for the snow monitoring system.

Mitachi Sangyo Co., Ltd. has developed a system that monitors snowfall conditions in snowy regions using sensors. When deciding whether to deploy snowplows, municipal staff used to physically patrol to check the snow accumulation, but with the introduction of the new system, snowfall can now be monitored automatically. It has already been trialed in over 10 municipalities, mainly in the Tohoku and Hokuriku regions, with some having officially adopted it. Specialized equipment with sensors mounted on poles, such as streetlights, at a height of about 3 to 5 meters from the ground, measures the snow depth on the road. The data is displayed on a computer or smartphone screen, allowing for real-time monitoring, and notifications are sent via email or phone when preset values are exceeded. The specialized equipment has been upgraded to a multi-point version with multiple sensors, improving measurement accuracy and enhancing waterproof performance. Our product "ALPHIoT POWER" being IP66 compliant was a key factor in its adoption. There is no concern about power outages due to snow accumulation on solar panels, allowing for long-term operation without the need for removal after a single installation.
