In 2020, the Food Sanitation Act was revised, raising the standards for food safety. One of the initiatives in this effort is the introduction of the positive list system by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Until the end of May 2025, materials that comply with the old law can still be used as a transitional measure, but that period is now approaching about one year remaining.
