Radio Equipment Directive (RED) Cybersecurity Requirements Harmonized Standard Release
As a preparation for cyber risks, the European standard EN 18031 has been released.
In today's digital society, as the risk of cyber attacks on internet-connected devices increases, security is becoming increasingly important. To address this cyber risk, the European standard EN 18031 has been released. EN 18031 was officially announced on August 30, 2024, approved by the European Commission on January 28, 2025, and published in the Official Journal of the European Union on January 30. The delegated regulation (EU) 2022/30 referring to this standard for the Radio Equipment Directive (RED) is scheduled to become mandatory on August 1, 2025. At Overseas Certification PRO, we conduct individual study sessions primarily for industrial machinery manufacturers and electronics manufacturers. We will tailor our proposals to fit your company's situation and the level of the participants. Please feel free to contact us.

▼Frequently Asked Questions▼ ■Is it not a problem that the RE Directive's delegated regulation will be addressed after the release of the harmonized standards for the RE Directive? ■Since EN303645 is the harmonized standard for the RE Directive, can we just comply with EN303645 for consumer IoT devices' cybersecurity standards? ■Is it unnecessary to take measures for proprietary interfaces and proprietary encryption methods because they are not widely known? ■Can we say that the RE Directive only applies to wireless devices, and therefore, products with a wired interface are excluded? ■Is it sufficient to consider cybersecurity only for the devices themselves, or is it necessary to address it at the corporate level?
