Case study of introducing security mirrors: Preventing voyeurism on escalators with mirrors!
FF mirror custom item
Crime prevention, prevention of voyeurism, surveillance. Since the installation of the FF mirror, there have been no reports of voyeurism incidents (Saitama Rapid Railway).
We would like to introduce the voice of Saitama Rapid Railway, who has implemented FF mirror corridors as a measure to prevent voyeurism on escalators. Currently, FF mirrors have been installed at the escalators of Urawa Misato Station, Higashi Kawaguchi Station, and Hatogaya Station. Unlike regular mirrors, FF mirrors provide a wide view of the rear, which I find to be excellent. Before the installation, there were several incidents at Higashi Kawaguchi Station, but since the FF mirrors were installed, there have been no reports of voyeurism incidents. Customers using the station seem to be taking precautions not only against voyeurism but also against other dangers such as violence, as it can be observed that both men and women occasionally glance at the mirror and maintain distance from people behind them. When it comes to mirrors, most people probably think of mirrors that reflect only themselves (such as full-length mirrors, hand mirrors, or three-way mirrors). However, Komi's mirror is designed to observe the movements of other objects and people, as well as to show "consideration" for others. For example, one can check with the mirror to see if anyone is coming around a corner to avoid a collision, or to check if someone is trying to get on an elevator and wait for them... Komi's "considerate mirror" is useful all over the world, from convenience stores to airplanes.
