basic information
**Lecture Overview** The "Companion Robot" has the characteristic of "not preventing falls, but rather allowing them to happen slowly." This innovative idea has attracted the interest of medical and caregiving professionals and researchers not only in Japan but also around the world. It has been introduced in rehabilitation rooms in hospitals and in ADL (Activities of Daily Living) corners that verify daily life, and it is further utilized in various ways, including support for other robot development, device integration, playground equipment, and competitions. What is the root of the idea of "allowing falls"? The developer, who specializes in architecture, established a caregiving business and is also involved in Cabinet Office projects as a robot researcher, will detail the journey and challenges faced in bringing this concept to market with the support of three government ministries, as well as future developments in housing and urban planning. **Lecture Items** ■ Background of the Companion Robot's creation ■ How architecture changes the form of robots through collaboration ■ Creating an ADL space that no one could imagine ■ Supporting everyone from children to people with disabilities, and even robots ■ Japan's "vacant house" problem and the "robot group" that supports individuals ■ Related Q&A ■ Business card and information exchange session
