Why don't the dimensions fit? A discussion on how "distortion" affects processing and inspection.
Recently, during inspections, I often encounter situations where, despite processing according to the drawings, the dimensions somehow do not match!
One of the common causes mentioned is "distortion." Distortion may be a bit difficult to understand, but it refers to the phenomenon where the shape of a part slightly deforms due to the influence of materials and processing. For example, with aluminum parts, they may appear fine while clamped (fixed), but the moment the clamp is removed, they can warp slightly. Additionally, due to heat during processing or internal stress, the shape can gradually change after processing. *You can view the detailed content of the blog through the related links.
