Generally, high-purity rare earth elements are dissolved in acid, and their purity is measured by various analytical methods. One particularly important method is the titration method using xylenol orange as an indicator (ISO 23597). The titration method is an absolute measurement method and has many advantages compared to other established analytical techniques such as atomic absorption spectroscopy (AAS).
