[Case Study] Solved hydrolysis by changing materials! Measures against mold on water-soaked rollers using additives.
This is a case of changing the material of urethane rollers used in a food factory. In an environment where water is constantly applied, hydrolysis occurred with the conventional ester-based urethane. Additionally, mold developed on the surface of the rollers, posing hygiene issues. Therefore, the material of the urethane was changed from ester-based to ether-based, which has excellent hydrolysis resistance. By adding an antibacterial agent, we were able to suppress deterioration due to hydrolysis and the growth of mold, achieving stable use in harsh wet conditions.
