[Case Study] Solved with specialized urethane focused on load capacity! AGV load issue.
This is a case study regarding the selection of wheel materials in the development of new AGVs. During the development phase, we were considering wheel materials that could withstand the load conditions required for the AGV. However, conventional general-purpose urethane rubber could not meet the necessary load requirements, making material selection a challenge. Therefore, we proposed a special urethane, 'SL-1195P,' which is specialized for load-bearing performance. By utilizing its high load-bearing capacity and excellent rolling performance, we adopted it for the AGV wheels, successfully meeting the load requirements set during the development phase.

Wheels for the new development of AGVs With the increase in size and weight of AGVs, there is a demand for wheels with higher load-bearing performance than ever before. On the other hand, simply increasing the hardness of polyurethane may make it difficult to balance driving performance and grip. In this case, we adopted a special polyurethane, 'SL-1195P,' which is specifically designed for load-bearing performance, to meet the challenging load requirements that conventional polyurethane could not handle. By changing the material of the wheels, we cleared the necessary load requirements and contributed to the new development of AGVs. In the new development of AGVs and AMRs, as well as in the selection of wheel materials, we can propose materials tailored to usage conditions to address challenges such as "unable to find polyurethane that can withstand the required load."
