The "miRadar(R) 8" is a 24GHz radar sensor module with 2-element transmitting (Tx) antennas and 4-element receiving (Rx) antennas. By performing MIMO radar signal processing such as beamforming, it achieves the detection accuracy equivalent to 8 elements in terms of azimuth. It integrates high-performance radar chipsets and low-power FPGAs in a high-density configuration, allowing connection to signal processing devices like PCs via a USB interface. Multiple modules can work together to enable detection of targets in a full 360-degree range, with coordinated operation control to prevent overlapping transmission outputs. Sakura Tech has been developing imaging sensors and high-performance microwave/millimeter-wave components using ultra-wideband technology since its founding in October 2008. Using the same radar platform, we developed an algorithm capable of simultaneously measuring the vital signs (heart rate, respiration) of multiple individuals, and we have been the first in the world to sell evaluation kits, receiving positive feedback from many manufacturers. Radio wave sensors have become essential in the fields of autonomous driving sensors, security aiming for a safe and secure society, and monitoring the elderly in the IoT society.
