Physical AI × INCEPTION: Designing the possibilities of dual-arm robots from the ground up.

In the research and development of physical AI and robotics, there is increasing attention on cooperative movements and complex manipulation using dual-arm robots. In dual-arm systems, not only the performance of the robot arms but also the positional relationship between the left and right arms, the working area, and the overall stability of the frame influence the completeness of the experimental environment. At MetalWorks, we design and manufacture frames for dual-arm robot arms as part of our "INCEPTION Frame Series," which aims to establish a robot research and development environment. We provide a layout design that considers not only the simple fixation of two arms but also the movable range of each arm, mutual interference, and cooperative movements. We propose positional relationships tailored to research objectives and the specifications of the arms being mounted. Additionally, we take into account changes in the center of gravity due to the weight and operational posture of the arms, as well as the risk of tipping over, designing a frame structure that emphasizes safety and stability. From VLA and imitation learning to proof of concept (PoC) and research and development (R&D) for dual-arm manipulation. INCEPTION builds a research and development environment that not only "moves" robots but also allows for safe challenges, starting from the hardware.
