The Nord-Lock washer's loosening prevention employs a method called self-locking, which is based on a wedge effect utilizing tension rather than friction, consisting of two washers (one set). Since Nord-Lock washers do not rely on friction, applying lubricant does not diminish their effectiveness. Lubricants are important for reducing friction during assembly. With less friction, the torque required for the appropriate tightening force is also reduced. Nord-Lock is an ideal product for machinery that requires regular maintenance checks. By using Nord-Lock, bolts can be easily loosened with standard tools, and lubricant can be applied to the components before reassembly, allowing the washers to be reused.
