Pressure Setting Heat generation occurs in approximately 0.1 to 0.2 seconds (4 to 10 cycles), rapidly rising to around 1500°C, and the molten part attempts to move in the vertical chip direction, which is then pressed and held down. If it cannot be pressed down (insufficient pressure), "fines" will occur and scatter. If the metal intended to form the nugget escapes, it will affect the nugget diameter, density, etc., and sufficient bonding strength will not be achieved. However, a very small amount of "fines" can also serve as a good indicator of proper melting. Excessive pressure only increases the diameter of the indentation, so an appropriate balance is necessary.
