It is surprisingly cumbersome to accurately inject a laser into fibers with a small core diameter, such as single-mode fibers. This involves not just aligning the laser light with the core's position, but also adjusting the angle of incidence, setting up and adjusting auxiliary optical systems for focus correction due to the laser's mode, and checking for burning issues at the fiber's end face caused by the laser light. To improve the injection efficiency, these adjustments and checks are necessary. The fiber injection device FN11 allows for easy confirmation and adjustments using its built-in high-magnification CCD camera, steering mirror adjustment mechanism, and iris for angle adjustment. Additionally, when realigning with a previously set optical system, it can accurately and quickly inject the laser light into the fiber's core. During these adjustments, a high-performance dielectric film neutral density filter is inserted in conjunction with the CCD camera optical path switch, ensuring that the irradiation intensity on the fiber is below 0.1%, which almost completely prevents burning of the adhesive layer due to melting from the laser light. Furthermore, there are considerations for usability, such as a neutral density filter that allows for three-digit attenuation adjustments and mechanisms that correspond to the laser's optical axis height.
