It distinguishes between snow, frost, dew, condensation, and white ice based on transparency, and identifies water, raindrops, and clear ice by their refractive index. The Model 9734−WIN monitors the transparency and refractive index of substances in contact with the probe surface. It detects the initial stages of icing phenomena and transmits warning signals. The sharp-edged part of the probe is designed to prevent rainwater from accumulating on the sensor. Since it does not use moving parts, it is maintenance-free.
