The ultrasonic leak detector (ULD) is a portable, low-cost, high-performance device that can easily identify leak points in compressed air piping systems. Users simply point the ULD in the direction of the suspected leak. When a leak is present, a warning sound is heard through the headphones, and an LED indicator light turns on. Testing can be quickly and effectively performed on pipework, connection connectors, valves, and after piping work, detecting leaks from distances of up to 6.1 meters. In plants, leaks that are generally undetected can easily account for about 30% of compressed air output. Reducing this wasted compressed air can decrease overall operating costs. In large plants, a single small air leak may seem insignificant, but when many small leaks are discovered and repaired, it can result in significant energy savings. Additionally, the ULD can be applied to various applications beyond compressed air, including liquid leak detection, high-pressure gas leak detection, corona discharge, and arc discharge detection.
