In this book, after an overview of the application potential of nano-silicon in the introduction, Chapter 1 covers photonics, Chapter 2 covers electronics, Chapter 3 covers acoustics, Chapter 4 covers bio-applications, and Chapter 5 discusses the fundamental process technologies underlying these areas, with contributions from leading researchers in the field. I would like to express my deep gratitude to all the authors. Silicon, the core material for devices, will become increasingly important in fields such as ultra-LSI, optical applications, MEMS, and biotechnology.
