basic information

Is the shape of the Earth a perfect sphere? A shape that is round like a ball and looks like a circle from any angle is called a sphere. The characteristic of a sphere is that no matter where you cut it, the cross-section will always be a circle. Some people might think that cutting it diagonally would result in an oval shape, but that is an optical illusion. If you bring the cut part to the front, you can see that the cross-section is indeed a circle. There are many spheres around us, such as light bulbs, tennis balls, soap bubbles, marbles, and pearls. However, when it comes to the most familiar sphere, many people would think of the Earth we live on. The blue Earth floating in space appears to be a beautiful sphere at first glance. But will all the cross-sections of the Earth be perfect circles? The answer is no. The Earth experiences centrifugal force due to its rotation, which increases as you get closer to the equator. Therefore, the shape of the Earth is not a perfect sphere but an oblate spheroid that is slightly bulging in the equatorial direction. *For more details, please contact us.*
