However, it has already been predicted that these frequency bands will not be sufficient in the long term, as transfer speeds of several tens to hundreds of gigabits per second are required. Higher carrier frequencies are necessary for faster data transfer, and research is currently being conducted on the use of communication systems in the "terahertz" (THz) frequency range, which far exceeds carrier frequencies of 100 GHz.
