We would like to introduce a case study of our hybrid actuator "HySerpack" installed in the continuous casting equipment molten steel flow control device at Nippon Steel Corporation Fukuyama Steelworks. It is used for controlling the flow of molten steel in the bloom (special steel) continuous casting equipment. The viscosity of molten steel heated to 1600°C is lower than that of water, so very fast responsiveness is required to control its flow. "HySerpack" demonstrates control characteristics that are comparable to or better than conventional servo valves, while the power consumption is approximately 1/50 compared to conventional products, making it a key player in reducing environmental impact.
