【Presentation of Information】What is a lead-acid battery?

Lead-acid batteries are highly safe, economically superior, of good quality, and can be obtained at a low cost!

The lead-acid battery, which has the oldest history among secondary batteries (rechargeable batteries), has continued to evolve as a secondary battery with low energy density but high safety and excellent economic efficiency. The lead-acid battery is fundamentally composed of metallic lead (Pb) as the negative electrode, lead dioxide (PbO2) as the positive electrode, and dilute sulfuric acid (H2SO4) as the electrolyte. During discharge, the sulfuric acid in the electrolyte is consumed, and as discharge continues, the concentration of sulfuric acid decreases and it transforms into water. The reverse phenomenon occurs during charging. Current flows due to the movement of ions in the electrolyte and chemical reactions at the electrodes. Lead-acid batteries can be damaged if over-discharged or left after discharge.
