Eddy current testing involves applying alternating current to a coil, which generates a magnetic flux. When this magnetic flux is applied to a metal, eddy currents (induced currents) are generated on the surface of the metal due to electromagnetic induction. Changes in the flow can be detected as changes in the impedance of the coil and signal variations. The function tester, which is an electrical characteristic inspection device, is used to inspect the circuit operation specific to each printed circuit board (PCB) after the electronic components have been mounted, while supplying power to the board. It is optimal for 100% inspection of mounted PCBs on the manufacturing line, as it can automatically inspect a large number of items in a short cycle time. For each inspection, conditions are set using a DA and PIO board built into a PC, and voltage waveforms are determined using an AD board. Since all points where voltage measurements are taken can be isolated with relays, it minimizes leakage current to the inspection device, allowing for the measurement of very small consumption currents.
