[Application Case of System Analog Technology] LSI for Ultrasonic Diagnostic Equipment

Mass production for Japanese medical device manufacturers! A case where heat generation has been minimized to the extreme through ultra-low power consumption.

In the development of LSI for ultrasound diagnostic devices, we would like to introduce a case where our system analog technology was applied. The challenges were to control approximately 2,000 transducers at a size that could fit into the esophagus and to minimize power consumption to prevent burns. To address this, we arranged the transmitting and receiving circuits connected to the ultrasound transducers (piezo elements) in an array configuration to achieve beamforming. High-speed serial communication LSI G9000 series

Motor I/O data - all consolidated for reduced wiring!

Motionnet® is a high-speed serial communication system proposed by NPM. Based on the uniquely developed "G9000 series" of five types of devices, it is a total wiring reduction system that enables not only input/output control and motor control required in the FA field but also CPU emulation and message communication that can be remotely operated, taking advantage of its high speed. In cyclic communication for input/output control, it consistently transfers 4 bytes of data at a maximum of 15.1μs, during which it can interrupt to communicate up to 256 bytes (maximum) of data such as motor control and LSI control data. The communication time can be calculated using a predetermined formula, ensuring the real-time performance required in the FA field. In many cases, motor control (motion control) is developed using "CPUs (1-chip microcontrollers)" or "FPGAs," so it would be sufficient to program them to enable "acceleration and deceleration control"!! A low-cost version suitable for controlling stepping motors!

We have renewed our conventional model by miniaturizing it and enhancing its functionality. It incorporates the basic functions that are generally considered necessary for open-loop control of stepping motors. Considering the recent CPU landscape, it can be used with either an 8-bit parallel bus or a 4-wire serial bus, broadening the options for compatible CPUs. The 2-axis type measures 10×10 mm, and the 4-axis type measures 14×14 mm, adopting the industry's smallest package in the QFP type.
