pH (hydrogen ion concentration) indicates the degree of acidity or alkalinity of water. It is expressed on a scale of 1 to 14, with 7 being neutral, values above 7 indicating alkalinity, and values below 7 indicating acidity.
SS (suspended solids) refers to the insoluble substances that are suspended in water. It is one of the indicators used to measure the degree of water pollution and includes organic matter derived from phytoplankton, their remains, domestic wastewater, and industrial effluents. The amount of SS significantly affects the appearance of water, such as its turbidity and transparency.
In factories where wastewater is generated, it is necessary to establish a monitoring system to comply with the water quality standards set by the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for environmental conservation, in order to avoid administrative guidance.
By automating the measurement of pH and SS, which is time-consuming and labor-intensive, and implementing remote monitoring, it is possible to reduce manpower and prevent human errors.
