The arm drive of the scara robot (horizontal multi-joint robot) employs methods such as timing belts, direct motors, and actuators. These are not a problem in atmospheric environments, but that is not the case in vacuum environments. Problem 1: Risk of temperature rise In a vacuum, the environment can reach temperatures of several hundred degrees Celsius. Problem 2: Risk of outgassing Outgassing (gases released from moisture or gases remaining in components) can cause workpiece contamination and equipment malfunction.
