0214 Preventing Blocking of Wet Powder

Introducing examples of preventing resin powder blocking inside the hopper.

We addressed an issue at a resin manufacturing company where "the resin powder was blocking in the hopper, making it impossible to extract with the twin-screw feeder." In this case, the raw material had a high moisture content, so the operating pressure was also set higher (resulting in increased air consumption). Additionally, due to the installation of multiple units (20 units), we used a controller with 10 solenoid valves to sequentially turn on the air for two units at a time. 【Flow of Problem Resolution】 1. Upon examining the raw material, we determined from experience that it was quite troublesome. → We proposed a close installation of multiple units. 2. We lent a demo unit, which was installed by the user in their existing hopper for testing. → It was found that there were areas where blocking was not resolved when the distance from the unit increased. 3. We added a "blow disk" to the initial proposal based on the user's requests. 4. The above plan was implemented. → The issue was resolved. Introduction of fly ash and cement mixture silo.

Introducing Brodisk into the fly ash and cement mixture silo!

The "Brodisk" has been applied to the silo of a mixture of fly ash and cement. Due to the customer's (domestic) intention to "install as many Brodisks as possible to avoid risks for overseas projects, as the fluidity is expected to be quite poor," 32 Brodisks have been introduced. The silo diameter is 3200φ. Generally, cases range from 16 to 24 units, but this time there are 32 units. Even with 32 Brodisks at a low cost, the expenses are limited. 【Silo Overview】 ● Silo Diameter: 3200φ ● Discharge Diameter: 200φ 【Brodisk Installation Overview】 ● Installed in 5 tiers: 4 units, 4 units, 8 units, 8 units, 8 units near the discharge area. For more details, please refer to the catalog or feel free to contact us. *We have many implementation examples on our website. You can check them from the link below.

0245 Installation to the hopper of the metal powder screw feeder.

Introducing a case of installation in a hopper of a screw feeder for metal powder.

In the metal powder hopper, we installed a conical shape inside to reduce the powder pressure to prevent bridging, but it did not improve. We received an inquiry about trying a Brodie disk. The customer expressed a desire to borrow it, stating, "I would like to avoid installing it suddenly (as it requires drilling a hole in the hopper), and first, I want to check the actual item." Therefore, we attached the Brodie disk to a resin plate that simulated the hopper wall and sent it. The customer connected the air and confirmed the air discharge. After embedding it in the powder inside the hopper and confirming the air discharge in that state, they decided to adopt it. Since then, they have evaluated that it is operating stably. 【Overview】 ■ Material: Metal powder (particle size: unknown) ■ Bulk density: Approximately 2.5 ■ Hopper size: 1300×2000 * For more details, please refer to the catalog or feel free to contact us. * Our website features numerous examples of implementations. 0284 Bridge measures for silica powder.

Introducing a case of a blow disc adopted by a powder equipment manufacturer.

This is a request from a powder handling equipment manufacturer. A bridging phenomenon occurred in the raw material feed hopper of the equipment delivered to the user, which was not initially anticipated. After installing a knocker, there was no improvement, and they inquired if there was anything that could be done. We proposed installing a total of four Brody disk standard types: one on each of the two sides and two on the remaining side with a relatively gentle slope, and they decided to implement this solution. As a result, the bridging issue was resolved easily without any particular troubles. 【Overview Conditions】 ■ Hopper Dimensions: 1500×800 ■ Discharge Port Dimensions: 125A ■ Material Name: Silica Powder ■ Average Particle Diameter: Approximately 300 microns ■ Bulk Density: About 0.25 * For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us. * Our website features numerous case studies, which can be accessed via the link below.

Example of installation in a resin powder storage bunker.

Introducing examples of continued adoption by resin material manufacturing companies.

At the resin raw material manufacturing company, to promote discharge from the bunker, a "blow disk" was adopted near the discharge outlet located at the bottom of the silo (conical part, midway). This time, we were consulted about installing this equipment in the area opposite the discharge outlet, as the powder there was not moving and was piling up like a mountain, in order to effectively utilize the bunker’s volume. We communicated that completely eliminating the pile was difficult and presented a proposal for installation. It was later decided to implement the solution, and the results have improved to a level acceptable to the customer. [Overview] ■ Material: Resin powder (prone to clumping) ■ Bunker capacity: 200m3 * For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us. * Our website features numerous case studies. Introduced after testing the solvent resistance of the elastic disk.

It is possible to confirm the durability in advance! Examples of broaching disks when using solvents, etc.

The elastic disk of the Brodisk is made of a special silicone rubber (for standard specifications) that excels in durability and strength. However, if you are using solvents, you can confirm the resistance in advance. For customers considering the installation of the "Brodisk Mini," after conducting immersion tests with the elastic disk pieces to check the resistance to the solvents used, you can confidently install the Brodisk. Feel free to request test disk pieces; we will send them to you immediately. In addition to special silicone, we also offer EPDM (ethylene propylene rubber) for the elastic disks. Please feel free to consult us about other materials. [Overview] - Immersion tests can be conducted with elastic disk pieces. - Resistance to the solvents used can be confirmed. - The Brodisk can be installed with confidence. - Elastic disks are available in special silicone as well as EPDM. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. 0116 Elimination of fine powder retention in toner manufacturing equipment and dust collector hopper.

A case where the fine powder retention in the dust collector hopper of toner manufacturing equipment was resolved using a blow disc.

Jet milling - Elimination of toner fine powder residue in the dust collector hopper section of the toner manufacturing plant through air classification. Due to the very fine dust generated by fine milling and fine classification, the air knocker was not effectively preventing retention. Although it is a large hopper, eight blow discs were installed relatively close to the discharge section, and it is operating smoothly. The blow discs solve the rat hole and bridging phenomena in various powders and bulk silos and hoppers. They are easy to install and economical. 【Key Points of This Equipment】 ■ The elastic disc (silicone) is very important in terms of strength and durability, especially considering the risk of foreign matter contamination. The silicone discs of this equipment are exceptionally strong and durable. You will understand once you use it! ■ Control (how to aerate?) is crucial! We provide guidance on what should be done.
