Development and manufacturing of functional materials and products based on metal powders - Powder Metallurgy

Leave the manufacturing of oil-containing bearings, mechanical parts, gears, and pulleys using powder metallurgy to us.

Powder metallurgy is a manufacturing process that involves placing metal powder into a mold, compressing it to solidify, and then sintering it at high temperatures to create parts. It excels in producing complex and high-precision components in large quantities, offering excellent cost performance. Because the raw material is in powder form, the material yield is outstanding. 【What Napak Can Do】 ◆ Oil-impregnated Bearings The challenge with oil-impregnated bearings is to maintain a small amount of oil, less than a drop, within a limited space without losing or compromising it, ensuring the specified bearing lifespan. We continuously research and develop the "technology of harmony" regarding the shape, material, pore structure, and impregnated oil of oil-impregnated bearings. ◆ Mechanical Components Sintered mechanical components allow for complex shapes and significantly reduce machining, enabling substantial rationalization, including cost reduction for our customers. We continuously research and develop various types of materials according to the applications and performance requirements of the products. ◆ Gears and Pulleys Rotational transmission components, which are one of the important mechanical elements, have recently required high precision due to advancements in control technology through electronics. Our company is also striving to enhance technology development and equipment to meet this demand. *For more details, please download our catalog or feel free to contact us.

Powder metallurgy (sintered alloy) manufacturing 'WELMET'

The application fields are broader! WELMET is recognized as a brand, with high appreciation for its quality and precision.

Since 1963, Mitsui Mining & Smelting has started the production and sale of powder metallurgy products under the trademark "WELMET." In 1974, we established a new factory, and since then, we have been manufacturing and selling high-quality and stable sintered precision parts, including iron-based, copper-based, and stainless steel-based products. We respond quickly to customer needs, and our quality and precision are highly regarded. 【Process Description (Excerpt)】 ■ Mixing - Determine the mixing ratio according to the composition of various materials and perform mixing. - Depending on the product application, a wide range of various alloys and composite materials can be obtained. ■ Forming - Attach each product mold to a powder metallurgy-specific press and fill it with the mixed metal powder. - Perform compression molding from above and below. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.

Stainless steel powder metallurgy

Powder metallurgy specialized in stainless steel, which is a difficult-to-process material!

Our company offers high-quality stainless steel powder metallurgy parts utilizing the sintering technology of stainless steel developed over many years in MIM (Metal Injection Molding). Features include pouring fluid metal powder into molds and creating molded bodies through pressing. The molding time is extremely short, just a few seconds per unit, allowing for mass production. Additionally, with a relative density of 70-90%, the parts contain internal pores, enabling the production of lightweight components by controlling the sintering density. 【Features】 - Cost reduction through mass production of difficult-to-machine material parts and integration of components - Lightweight design possible due to internal pores in the products - Ability to provide products leveraging the extensive knowledge and technical expertise of the Mitsui Metals Group in metal materials *For more details, please download the PDF or contact us.

Sintered metal / Powder metallurgy

Sintered metal / powder metallurgy

Sintered metal is... An alloy created by compressing metal powder into a desired shape to form a compact, which is then sintered at high temperatures. It is alloyed without going through melting and casting processes. Advantages of sintered metal: 1. No cutting waste is produced during the shaping of raw powder, making it economical. 2. It can supply stable parts with minimal dimensional variation in large quantities. 3. Utilizing porosity (voids), it can create parts that can be used without lubrication by incorporating oil. 4. It is possible to integrally mold ASS'Y parts made of two components. Moreover, integration is possible even using copper infiltration methods. 5. Even special metal formulations can be mixed in small lots compared to melted metals. 6. Physical properties, except for impact values, are comparable to general steel materials in use. 7. Post-processing (carburizing hardening, anti-rust treatment) is also possible. With sealing treatment, electroplating can be done freely.

Stainless steel powder metallurgy

It is a technology suitable for mass production, achieving cost reduction! It is specialized in stainless steel, which is a difficult material to process.

"Powder metallurgy" is a method of manufacturing parts using metal powder as raw material, specifically referring to the pressing and molding process in a narrow sense. Flowable metal powder is poured into a mold, and a shaped body is produced through pressing. Since the forming time is very short, only a few seconds per piece, it allows for mass production. Additionally, powder metallurgy generally has a relative density of 70-90%, which means it contains pores internally. By controlling the sintering density, it is possible to create lightweight components. 【Features】 ■ Very short forming time of only a few seconds per piece ■ Capable of mass production ■ Provides high-quality stainless steel powder metallurgy parts ■ Capable of creating lightweight components by controlling sintering density *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.
