The use of adhesive tape produced by chemical manufacturers such as Dexerials is rapidly increasing as a substitute for screws.
What is the reason for using screws to secure parts in the first place? It is because screws allow for "disassembly without damaging the parts if necessary, even after they have been secured, and can be re-secured." This is referred to as "reworkability" in production environments, and due to the improved functionality of adhesives and adhesive tapes, they are now being adopted in places where reworkability is required.
Unlike screws that secure at a "point," adhesive tape can be cut into a continuous shape, allowing for stable fixation of parts over a "surface."
Additionally, when using screws, a process to create screw holes is necessary, and to accommodate the full length of the screw, a "thickness" is required in the casing. In contrast, adhesive tape can be easily adjusted in thickness and shape, accommodating a wide range from below 10 microns to several hundred microns in thickness.
