Transformers are reliable and long-lasting devices, but prolonged use can lead to deterioration of the winding insulation and insulating materials due to temperature effects. They are also significantly affected by the ambient temperature in which they are used. To ensure safe long-term use, temperature rise limits are established based on the insulating materials used, and each type of insulation material has its own specified temperature rise limit. The maximum allowable temperature, under rated conditions, is the temperature rise limit of the insulation type plus the reference ambient temperature (40°C). In the development of switching power supplies, we received a request to reduce the inductance variation of the flyback transformer and to conduct early practical evaluations of the transformer. Typically, inductance adjustments are made using processed products from ferrite core manufacturers or space materials, but there are challenges regarding delivery times and accuracy.
