Sediment Abrasion Test / High-Temperature Friction Abrasion Test
A friction and wear test optimal for selecting engine parts and capable of observing surface conditions through sediment abrasion testing.
The "Soil Abrasion Test" is an examination that investigates the abrasion phenomenon known as scratching wear, where the surface is worn away by hard protrusions or foreign objects. Specifically, a certain amount of silica sand is poured onto the contact surface between the test piece and a rotating rubber wheel, and the amount of wear loss and the surface condition of the test piece that has been worn away are measured and observed. Materials that are prone to wear, such as plastics, show a large amount of wear loss, while wear-resistant materials like tool steel show a smaller amount of wear loss. The "High-Temperature Friction and Wear Test" is a test that examines the degree of wear by rubbing test pieces against each other while rotating. This can be conducted from room temperature to high temperatures, and the mass difference of the test pieces before and after the test is used to measure the worn mass (wear loss) and friction torque.
