The "Project to Brighten the World with Repainting" is an initiative by our company to brighten the world and increase smiles by offering free repainting services. This request came from the parents of a local kindergarten, and we carried out the repainting. The mascot, which is well-known and loved by the children and the community for many years, had been carefully maintained and painted by the teachers at the kindergarten. The mascot not only had peeling paint but also had some chipped areas, so we started by repairing those. We polished the uneven surfaces and applied a glossy finish. While painting, we imagined what colors would surprise the children and bring smiles to their faces. The final result was well-received by the teachers and the children, and we are very satisfied with it. Measures to prevent peeling of metal baked coatings

The cause of paint peeling in metal baked coatings may not be the paint itself. This explains the poor adhesion due to insufficient pretreatment.

The peeling of paint that occurs during metal baking paint processes is not solely caused by the paint or the baking temperature. If the pre-treatment processes such as degreasing, washing, chemical treatment, and drying are insufficient, the adhesion between the paint film and the metal surface decreases. Particularly, if baking is performed while cutting oil or rust preventive oil remains, the oil will volatilize at temperatures around 180 to 200 degrees, creating tiny gaps between the paint film and the material. As a result, peeling occurs due to vibrations and impacts during use. To improve quality, it is important to manage pre-treatment conditions numerically before changing the paint.

Pinholes that occur in metal baked coatings are a typical defect where small holes appear on the surface of the paint film. The causes can be not only related to the painting process but also hidden within the gases inside the material or in the pretreatment process. In aluminum die-casting and castings, fine gases remaining from the manufacturing process can expand during baking and break through the paint film. Additionally, the residual oil and moisture can similarly lead to pinholes. Gas release through preheating, degreasing, and reviewing drying conditions are key to stabilizing quality.
