The controllable gas spring (KF2) is a member of the gas spring family used in press molds and is a type of spring that can lock the piston rod at the bottom dead center (BDC). It has traditionally been used in the drawing process of standard press molds, but recently, due to the belief that its functionality is particularly suitable for hot stamping, the demand for it in hot stamping has been increasing. The return stroke of the piston rod is controlled via a valve installed at the bottom of the spring.
