[Proposal Example] Problem Solving through Changes in Welding Methods

Proposed changes in welding and cleaning to address concerns about weld penetration and burn-through, resulting in a total reduction of approximately 30% in man-hours.

We would like to introduce a case where we proposed a solution to challenges arising from changes in welding methods. We were TIG welding stainless steel mesh and stainless steel fittings, but faced issues such as shallow penetration and severe burn marks that could not be cleanly removed. Therefore, we proposed laser welding, which has a proven track record with stainless steel mesh and stainless steel fittings at Kanekita, allowing for deeper penetration with less burning. We achieved stable penetration welding with minimal burning at Kanekita, and the subsequent burn removal cleaning was also carried out by Kanekita. As a result, there were no burn marks left, and the customer was able to omit the cleaning process on their side. [Challenges] ■ TIG welding of stainless steel mesh and stainless steel fittings resulted in shallow penetration. ■ Severe burn marks made clean removal impossible. ■ Interested in considering laser welding, but lacking equipment and knowledge, unsure about design changes such as beveling. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.
