If you want to improve the metal's sliding properties, use sulfide nitriding.

In addition to the nitride compounds formed by conventional gas nitriding, a sulfide film coating is formed!

- The sulfide layer is relatively soft, improving initial compatibility during friction and exhibiting solid lubrication effects. - As a result, the sulfurized layer enhances compatibility and shows good seizure resistance and galling resistance. - For gears that require quiet operation, a reduction in gear noise can be achieved. - Gas soft nitriding of austenitic stainless steel is also possible.

Plasma nitriding technology "Raster processing"

The nitrided surface has only a diffusion layer, resulting in a good surface finish and maintaining a glossy appearance!

"Raster processing" is a technology that forms only a tough diffusion layer without creating a compound layer. Since the process of polishing away the compound layer can be reduced, it contributes to cost savings. Additionally, by applying it to the substrate, the lifespan of molds and cutting tools can be extended several times compared to when only coating is applied, so we recommend composite hardening treatment using raster processing and PVD coating. [Features] ■ The nitrided surface consists only of a diffusion layer ■ The finished surface has good roughness and maintains gloss ■ Nitriding is possible in narrow slits and fine pores ■ Nitriding of cutting tools is possible ■ The release properties of resin molds are improved *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Nitriding Method "S.P.N. Method"

It can be safely applied to mirror-finished products and textured surfaces with minimal skin irritation from processing.

The "S.P.N. method" is a nitriding process for steel that utilizes plasma energy, differing from the conventional ion nitriding method that uses traditional plasma power. It causes less roughness on the surface of the treated material and can suppress the formation of compound layers, which are considered a drawback in the case of alloy steel. Therefore, it features reduced "dimensional changes" and "brittleness" compared to conventional methods. [Features] ■ Nitriding is possible for almost all types of steel, including stainless steel. ■ Stable glow can be maintained even for slit processed products, resulting in less variation. ■ Welding corrections can be performed directly after treatment. ■ By applying it to cutting tools and dies, and using it as a pretreatment for hard coatings such as PVD and DLC, greater effects can be achieved. *For more details, please download the PDF or contact us.

What is nitriding treatment? A technical book explaining the characteristics of nitriding and gas nitriding treatments, including the relationship between processing time, processing temperature, and hardness.

Nitriding treatment is a chemical surface hardening method of surface hardening heat treatment, which combines with various metal elements to form hard nitrides that harden the surface. The purpose of nitriding treatment is to improve wear resistance, fatigue resistance, corrosion resistance, and heat resistance. The most popular special steel that is easy to nitridize is SACM645 (commonly known as nitriding steel), which contains Al, Cr, and Mo. Other suitable materials for nitriding include chromium-molybdenum steel, nickel-chromium-molybdenum steel, and stainless steel. [Contents] - What is gas nitriding? - History of nitriding - Characteristics of nitriding treatment and gas nitriding treatment as surface hardening processes - About nitriding steel - Relationship between treatment time, treatment temperature, and hardness For more details, please contact us or download the catalog.

The relationship between nitriding treatment time, treatment temperature, and hardness.

Introducing the relationship between treatment time/temperature and surface hardness distribution in nitriding treatment.

In the "nitriding treatment" that strengthens the surface of steel, the hardness distribution changes depending on the treatment time and temperature. As the temperature increases, the surface hardness decreases. Additionally, as the treatment time increases, the nitrided layer becomes thicker, generally accompanied by a thicker brittle compound layer. [Features] ■ Hardness distribution changes with treatment temperature and time ■ Surface hardness decreases as temperature increases ■ Nitrided layer becomes thicker with longer time, but hardness does not change much *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Nitrogen treatment of stainless steel is also effective as an alternative to plating processing.

As an alternative to plating treatment, it is also effective in preventing peeling.

We would like to introduce the "nitriding treatment for stainless steel" conducted at the Far East Nitriding Research Institute, which specializes in nitriding treatment primarily in the Kanto and Tokai areas. Stainless steel is a type of steel that excels in corrosion resistance. During the nitriding process, the entry of nitrogen is hindered by the passive film of chromium oxide on the surface, necessitating an activation treatment. To achieve a stable treatment layer, our company employs a combination of physical removal methods such as shot blasting and chemical removal methods. 【Chemical Removal Methods】 ■ Gas Nitriding Treatment - Does not require ensuring glow discharge - No need for shape, loading amount, or size classification - Provides a stable treatment layer ■ SP Treatment - Has a hardened layer of HV1000 or higher - Processed at lower temperatures than nitriding treatment, resulting in less deformation - Does not reduce corrosion resistance *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Surface effect treatment SP that does not impair the properties of stainless steel.

(Presentation of technical data) Suitable nitriding treatment for preventing corrosion of solder baths and components! It forms a special nitrided layer with a hardened layer of HV1000 or higher.

SP treatment is an effective process for austenitic stainless steel and is useful for preventing corrosion in soldering equipment and solder baths made from lead-free materials. Traditionally, nitriding treatment for stainless steel typically improves wear resistance but has the drawback of deteriorating corrosion resistance. However, SP treatment can enhance wear resistance without compromising corrosion resistance. **Features of SP Treatment** SP treatment is a type of nitriding process that is effective for austenitic stainless steels (such as SUS304, 310, 316). It forms a special nitrided layer, known as the SP layer, while maintaining a passive film (oxide film). This layer has a different structure from the typical nitrided compound layer. It excels in both wear and corrosion resistance and has the following characteristics: - It has a hardened layer with a hardness of HV1000 or higher. - Corrosion resistance does not decrease (it does not rust even after 30 days of salt spray testing). - It is processed at a lower temperature (below 450°C) than traditional nitriding, resulting in even less deformation. Currently, technical materials on nitriding, titled "What is Nitriding," can be downloaded for free. For more details, please download the catalog or contact us.

Nitriding treatment ≪Tuftride, QPQ≫

The classic salt bath soft nitriding treatment, Tuftride, and QPQ treatment are revived here. Significantly improves the sliding characteristics and corrosion resistance of machine parts. Complies with REACH regulations.

1. What is nitriding treatment: Nitriding is a process that involves permeating nitrogen ions into the surface of materials such as steel and titanium alloys to harden them. By allowing nitrogen ions to penetrate the metal, nitrides of the added elements in the base material (Cr, Al, Mo) are formed (CrN, AlN, Mo2N), creating a hard compound layer. The hardness of this compound layer depends on the amount of these additives, exceeding Hv1200 in alloy steels. There are methods that utilize salt baths, gas atmospheres, or ion environments. 2. Characteristics of salt bath soft nitriding treatment: - Unlike carburizing and high-frequency quenching, there is minimal deformation after treatment, eliminating the need for subsequent polishing. - There is no reduction in fatigue strength after treatment, as seen with hard Cr plating or zinc plating. Nitriding treatment not only improves resistance to galling, wear, and corrosion but also enhances fatigue strength. - In gas and ion nitriding, for complex-shaped parts, gases and ions may not circulate uniformly along the part's shape, leading to uneven nitriding. In a salt bath, abundant nitriding ions circulate uniformly over the entire surface of the part, forming a consistent nitriding layer. A dense and tough nitrided compound (ε-iron nitride) layer improves sliding properties. A porous layer of a few micrometers at the very surface retains lubricating oil, ensuring favorable sliding conditions. 3. Characteristics of Tuftride and QPQ: - Compliant with REACH regulations, zero use of toxic substances, and zero wastewater (all solid waste).
