Tips for Designing Vacuum Forming Without Failures: Causes of Bridge Formation
If overheating occurs, it is necessary to reduce the heating and lower the sheet temperature!
The cause of bridge formation occurs during male mold shaping, where the sheet, once pushed up by the male mold and temporarily stretched, is elongated in the vertical direction as it adheres closely to the mold. However, it is compressed in the horizontal direction, causing the sheet to gather from both ends, resulting in excess material that forms a bridge. Another cause of bridge formation is the difference in tension. In the case of rectangular shapes, the corners or the closest points of the male molds have the highest elongation rate and tension in the nearby sheet. Therefore, when forming and adhering, the sheet approaches the mold with a delay, and if there is excess sheet material in the horizontal direction, a bridge will occur. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links.
