A transport box designed for moving large products within a factory and between customer locations. It has detachable side panels, making it easy to load and unload products.

Given its large size, it is necessary to have a sturdy structure for the base to facilitate movement using casters. Therefore, we decided to fabricate the base using welded aluminum square tubes and attach the casters. ■ Easy retrieval of products. If the side panels are raised on all four sides, retrieving products from the bottom becomes labor-intensive. To address this, we designed the panels on the shorter sides to be removable with a sliding mechanism. With two sides open, the retrieval and storage of products can be carried out smoothly.

Before the improvement, during the cleaning process, the dividers would lift, resulting in parts being placed in the returnable boxes without using the dividers, which sometimes caused interference and damage to the parts. This case study demonstrates how we addressed the dead space in the returnable boxes and resolved the issues of damage during parts cleaning through a redesign of the packaging. [Key Points of Packaging Design Improvement] - By creating a structure where parts are placed on top of the dividers, we eliminated the lifting of dividers during cleaning, which helped prevent damage to the parts. - We implemented a locking structure for the dividers that does not use adhesive, allowing for easy assembly and disassembly.
