Case study on improving mold release for molten metal: Coating that solved polyethylene stringing.

We will introduce a case where surface treatment technology solved the issue of stringing in welding molds.

■Request We want to eliminate stringing that occurs on the heating plate during the thermal welding of polyethylene containers. We aim to reduce product defects caused by stringing without changing the takt time and to decrease the frequency of replacing the heating plate. ■Criteria for Processing Selection As a result of considering cost-effectiveness, we require a lifespan that is twice that of the current coating. ■Achieved Effect By adopting CHC technology for the coating, we have successfully achieved both release effect and longevity. *You can download a PDF summarizing the product information. For more details, please contact us.

Case study on mold release for molten metal: Solving the stringing issue in battery cases through surface treatment.

We will introduce a coating case that solves the adhesion and stringing of resin that occurs during the welding process of the battery case container and lid.

■Concern In battery production, resin boxes and lids are welded together for sealing. The welding mold is made of aluminum and is heated to over 200°C for use. During this process, molten resin and stringing occur, which was addressed with a fluororesin (PTFE) coating. ■Background of Consultation with Our Company Due to the production of several thousand shots per day at temperatures above 200°C, the coating peels off in about a week. The hassle of changing setups for reprocessing and damage to the mold led to decreased production efficiency, prompting the consultation for improvements in surface treatment. ■Adopted Coating "CHC-1111CR" ■Adoption Background and Effects We proposed a newly developed "CHC-1111CR" that offers the same release properties as fluororesin coatings while maintaining high film hardness even when heated. Testing showed no stringing of the resin or peeling of the coating, allowing for use in tens of thousands of shots and achieving approximately three times the lifespan of conventional coatings. *For details on the coating, please refer to the PDF document.*

What is corrosion protection? Explanation of methods to enhance corrosion resistance [Materials available].

Is it enough to prevent just one element of corrosion for corrosion protection?

Corrosion prevention refers to methods used to prevent corrosion. Metal corrosion is a state in which the appearance and function of an object are compromised due to chemical and biological actions. Iron is generally cited as a metal material that is prone to corrosion. These metals can undergo rust and corrosion as a result of factors that cause corrosion, such as oxygen, sulfur, nitrogen, and water vapor present in the atmosphere, combined with the inherent properties of the metal, impurities, and electrochemical reactions. ■ The three main elements of corrosion: - The flow of electricity - The presence of water - The presence of oxides To enhance corrosion resistance, it is important to prevent one of these three elements. ■ Corrosion prevention using Teflon fluoropolymer Teflon fluoropolymer is widely used as a corrosion-resistant material due to its exceptional chemical resistance among resins. This is not only because of its excellent chemical resistance but also due to its insulating properties, water repellency, and weather resistance. Additionally, advancements in processing technology have made it possible to select materials and shapes suited to specific applications. *For details on coatings and linings that enhance corrosion resistance, please download the materials for confirmation.

Coating Technology: "Coating Case Studies Specialized in Adhesion Prevention for Heat Welding"

CHC coating technology contributes to improving durability in high-temperature environments compared to PTFE coating.

CHC (Ceramic Hard Coat) is a new type of coating technology that achieves both non-stick properties equivalent to conventional fluoropolymer coatings and high film hardness at elevated temperatures. ■ Examples of Surface Treatment Applications - A case where high-temperature release and long-term durability were achieved in the thermal welding process of filter cases. - A case where the release effect from processing thermal welding plates lasted three times longer than PTFE coatings. - A case that resolved the "peeling" and "blistering" issues of fluorine coatings on resin welding plates. - A case that eliminated adhesive adhesion and peeling at high temperatures, which could not be resolved with PTFE coatings. *You can download a PDF summarizing detailed case studies and product information. Please contact us for more information.

Chemical resistance of Teflon, fluoropolymer, PTFE, and PFA.

I will explain the chemical resistance of Teflon, fluoropolymer, PTFE, and PFA.

PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) and PFA (perfluoroalkoxy alkane) are types of fluoropolymer that both exhibit excellent chemical resistance. PTFE and PFA are resistant to chemical substances and are stable against acids, alkalis, organic solvents, and corrosive gases. They do not react with most substances and do not corrode or degrade. As a result, they are widely used as chemical containers, piping, gaskets, and sealing materials. PFA has a lower melt viscosity compared to PTFE, making it relatively easy to mold and process. Therefore, it expands the range of applications, especially for coatings that require chemical resistance or for thick film processing. *For more detailed information on chemical resistance, please download the materials or contact us.*

[Example] Adhesion prevention coating for a device that automatically applies adhesive tape.

Introducing examples of coatings that prevent adhesive from sticking, enabling the transport of duct tape.

■Problems We Wanted to Solve We received a consultation regarding the accumulation of adhesive on the feed roll of a device that automatically applies tape, which caused line stoppage issues that needed to be resolved. ■Background / Conditions for Choosing Treatment Initially, a knurling process was implemented as a countermeasure, but it was not very effective. Therefore, we proposed a coating that prevents tape adhesion. ■Adopted Treatment MRS Coating ■Achieved Effects After processing and testing with a prototype roller, there was no longer any adhesive accumulation or tape sticking, and they are considering expanding this solution to other lines. For detailed information on the surface treatment, please download the materials or contact us.
