What are thermoplastic resins and thermosetting resins?

Make effective use of limited resources! Classify into two types with different properties.

Plastics can be broadly classified into two types based on their properties: thermoplastic resins and thermosetting resins. Thermoplastic resins liquefy upon heating without undergoing a chemical reaction and solidify upon cooling, forming linear chain polymers. In other words, thermoplastic resins become liquid at their glass transition temperature or melting point, and solidify again when below that temperature, allowing them to transition between liquid and solid states. A common analogy is that of cookies and chocolate: thermosetting resins are like cookies; once baked, they cannot be melted again in the oven, and while they may burn at high temperatures, they do not liquefy. On the other hand, thermoplastic resins, like chocolate, melt and change shape when heated to a certain temperature. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links.
