Kashima Coat is a process where an alumina film is generated and then subjected to secondary electrolysis in a solution of ammonium tetrathiomolybdate, resulting in the deposition of molybdenum disulfide within ultra-fine pores of approximately 100 angstroms in diameter. The molybdenum disulfide deposited through the Kashima Coat treatment reduces the friction coefficient and significantly decreases both fretting wear and adhesive wear.
