We would like to introduce a machining case of the "throttle valve" that we conducted. Since the tool length of the cutting tool becomes longer, the key point is how to set the machining conditions to prevent the thin-diameter tool from vibrating. Due to the large protrusion of the projection, when machining the central pocket hole, the tool (ball end mill) must be inserted from the tip side of the projection. We used the "OKUMA MULTUS B200II" machining machine for production. 【Case Overview】 ■ Material: AZ31 (Magnesium) ■ Size: Φ35×55 ■ Machining Factory: Tokyo Headquarters ■ Remarks: Outer diameter Φ6 dimensional tolerance -0.010 to -0.018 *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationWe would like to introduce the machinability of our material "PEEK" in cutting processing. It has heat resistance, a low shrinkage rate, and is less likely to increase in temperature during cutting, which makes dimensions more stable. However, since many parts are used as substitutes for metal components, there tends to be strict dimensional requirements despite being resin parts. Compared to metals, PEEK has a higher shrinkage rate, so we set the processing conditions low and try to avoid raising the processing temperature as much as possible, while also leaving an appropriate allowance for anticipated shrinkage during processing. [Characteristics] - Heat resistant - Low shrinkage rate - Dimensions are more stable due to less temperature increase during cutting *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationWe would like to introduce the characteristics and drawbacks of our material "PEEK." Its characteristics include excellent heat resistance with a continuous use temperature of 260°C, and a tensile strength of over 90 MPa, which is among the highest mechanical strengths in resins. Additionally, being a resin, it is naturally lightweight and has excellent chemical resistance, showing no discoloration or dissolution except with certain strong acids like concentrated sulfuric acid. The drawback is that the material has a high unit price, but it offers properties that can rival those of metals. Please feel free to consult us when you need assistance. 【Characteristics】 ■ Excellent heat resistance ■ Highest level of mechanical strength among resins ■ Excellent chemical resistance ■ Excellent radiation resistance ■ Naturally lightweight due to being a resin *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationWe would like to introduce the machinability of our material "Inconel" in cutting processing. Due to its tendency to work harden, it leads to a shorter tool life and roughening of the finished surface. Because of its high affinity with tool materials, the machinability is poor, and it is referred to as a difficult-to-cut material. At our company, we try machining under various conditions and set optimal conditions for accuracy and productivity. Please feel free to consult us when you need our services. [Reasons for Poor Machinability] - High cutting resistance due to excellent heat resistance of the material - Tools tend to fail due to heat before the material, leading to quick breakage - Poor thermal conductivity prevents the temperature of the cutting edge from decreasing during processing - The tool life is shortened because the tool weakens due to heat - High affinity with tool materials causes the material to weld to the cutting tool *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationWe would like to introduce the characteristics and drawbacks of our material "Inconel." This material excels in creep resistance and is less prone to deformation under sustained stress at high temperatures, making it suitable for use in rocket engines and F1 exhaust systems. It has the property of being almost corrosion-resistant even when left at temperatures between 650 and 900°C for 50 hours. However, it is difficult to process due to a lack of practical cutting data compared to other materials under conditions that worsen machinability. Additionally, it is expensive, which are its drawbacks. 【Characteristics】 ■ Excellent creep resistance ■ Outstanding corrosion resistance ■ Superior oxidation resistance at high temperatures *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationWe would like to introduce the machinability of "titanium," classified as a difficult-to-cut material, using our compatible materials for cutting processing. The machinability is poor, with stickiness causing chips to adhere to the tools, which often necessitates multiple processes (such as rough machining → semi-finishing → finishing), particularly making it time-consuming to achieve precision machining. We are working to reduce costs by minimizing tool wear through the use of tools with suitable coatings, featuring uneven division and uneven lead. [Reasons for Difficult Machining] - Heat generated during cutting accumulates in the tool, shortening tool life. - The material is prone to deformation during processing, making it difficult to achieve dimensional accuracy. - Due to low resistance to friction, fine chips are produced during machining. - Being chemically active, it has a high flammability, making it prone to ignition. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationWe would like to introduce the characteristics and drawbacks of our material "Titanium." The characteristics include being lightweight and strong (among practical metals, it has one of the highest specific strengths), with a melting point of approximately 1,650°C, which is quite high. It generates a highly stable passive film that surpasses stainless steel. The drawbacks include its high strength, which can lead to tool damage or wear, making titanium classified as a difficult-to-machine material. It is indeed challenging to process and prone to deformation. 【Characteristics】 ■ Lightweight and strong (among practical metals, it has one of the highest specific strengths) ■ High melting point ■ Excellent corrosion resistance ■ Biocompatible *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationWe would like to introduce the characteristics and drawbacks of our material "Magnesium." The characteristics include high tensile strength relative to its specific gravity, making it stronger than aluminum and iron when using the same weight. Its melting point is relatively low at about 650 degrees Celsius, allowing for easy recycling. The drawbacks include a relatively low ignition temperature of 400°C; however, in the case of large chips with a high surface area, it reacts well with oxygen and moisture in the air, making it prone to ignition. Additionally, pouring water on burning magnesium can cause a hydrogen explosion. 【Characteristics】 ■ The lightest metal among practical metals ■ High specific strength ■ Good dent resistance ■ High recyclability ■ Excellent vibration absorption *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Free membership registrationWe would like to introduce the machinability of our material "magnesium" in cutting processing. The machinability (cutting performance) itself is very good, allowing for cutting with half the resistance of aluminum. However, it has a low Young's modulus, which is inversely proportional to its susceptibility to deformation, and care must be taken regarding warping, the risk of ignition, and susceptibility to corrosion. At our company, we use oil-soluble cutting oil in almost all machines, and we strive to reduce the risk of ignition by keeping dry sand for firefighting purposes on hand during processing. 【Surface Treatment】 ■ Chemical treatment ■ Coating ■ Anodized coating treatment ■ Electroplating *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
