The Nagamachi Samurai District is known as an area that retains a strong resemblance to the Edo period in Kanazawa. Its location within walking distance of Kanazawa's bustling districts, Korinbo and Katamachi, seems to symbolize the fusion of tradition and modernity in Kanazawa. In summer, fireflies dance around the two irrigation canals, Ohnosho and Kuratsuki, that flow through this area, while in winter, straw mats are placed over the earthen walls that remain on the streets, allowing visitors and local residents alike to experience the seasonal changes at a leisurely pace.
