Positioning control of heavy load transport overhead cranes with retrofitted laser distance sensors.

When transporting heavy objects, use a laser distance sensor instead of an encoder to measure and control the positional information on the X-axis/Y-axis within 50-100m.

When transporting heavy objects over a distance of 50-100m, using encoders can lead to slippage, resulting in cases where accurate positioning is not possible. While it would be ideal to implement a mechanism that prevents slippage, it can be costly and inefficient. In such cases, an increasing number of users are employing laser distance sensors to measure positional information and control the crane's motor. This also eliminates the risk of collisions between cranes. The system operates at temperatures as low as -40°C, making it suitable for use in cold storage warehouses. With a measurement accuracy of 1mm, a repeatability of 0.3mm, and a measurement speed of 250Hz (maximum), sufficient positioning accuracy can be achieved for crane motor control. This eliminates the need for mechanisms to suppress slippage, resulting in a cost-effective system. This laser distance sensor is useful for transporting heavy objects and for use in cold storage warehouses. Our company provides comprehensive technical support, including usage guidance, implementation, control software development, and post-installation support. If you have any concerns, please feel free to contact us. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to reach out to us.*

Measuring bridge deflection and other parameters with a high-precision laser distance sensor.

By installing a laser distance sensor on the bridge, it is possible to regularly measure the changes in deflection caused by vibrations from passing cars and large trucks.

The social infrastructure that supports our daily lives. Infrastructure facilities support our lives, contribute to the revitalization of communities, and enrich our lives. On the other hand, in places unseen by us, aging is progressing and could lead to major accidents. Large structures such as bridges and tunnels. Until now, inspections have been managed through visual checks or sound testing methods, but we are facing a situation of a shortage of technicians for maintenance management and financial constraints. Bridges in the Ticino region of Switzerland are equipped with our sensors, utilizing communication devices to quickly grasp the condition of the structures and employing sensor monitoring technology to prevent major accidents such as collapses. This bridge spans a major road used by people traveling to Italy, and it regularly monitors the changes in deflection caused by the vibrations from passing cars and large trucks. The 'D-series' is a high-precision laser distance sensor that achieves high-speed measurements at 250Hz. Our product complies with IP65 and can measure in environments ranging from -40°C to +60°C. High-precision laser distance sensors for early detection of ceiling deformation in tunnels with beams.

By using high-precision laser distance sensors for the early detection of ceiling deformations in tunnels with beams, the number of total stations can be reduced.

As part of the construction work at the main station in Bern, the capital of Switzerland, we received an inquiry from a certain engineering office. Objective: Early detection of ceiling deformation in tunnels with beams In a typical tunnel, a fixed total station is used to regularly measure the positions of numerous reflective prisms installed on the tunnel ceiling. However, in tunnels where beams are installed between the ground and the ceiling, visibility is restricted, requiring more total stations than usual. Solution: Implement a two-step measurement method Step 1: Use our laser distance sensor to measure the distance between the beams and the tunnel ceiling. Step 2: Use a total station to measure the position of the ceiling beams. By simultaneously utilizing a distance measuring sensor for the challenging measurements from the beams to the ceiling, we were able to monitor 20 tunnel cross-sections with just 4 total stations instead of the usual 20, resulting in significant cost savings. The project was quickly realized thanks to the specialized support from the manufacturer.

The level of molten and liquefied glass in the furnace is measured with a high-precision laser distance sensor.

Even in the harsh measurement environment of ultra-high temperature molten liquid at 1500°C, it is possible to achieve a measurement error of ±1mm by placing the laser distance sensor at a distance.

Our company does not handle dedicated sensors for specific applications and has only dealt with laser distance measuring sensors. To date, we have been involved in various fields such as civil engineering (measuring internal displacement in tunnels), steel and heavy industries (cranes, boring machines, etc.), woodworking and metal processing machines, monitoring, automated warehouses, and manufacturing process lines. We have received numerous requests asking, "Can sensors be used for this application?" and have worked together with customers to devise solutions, successfully measuring in many applications. Here, I would like to introduce one specific example. This is a measurement method to maintain a constant level of molten and liquefied glass inside a furnace. The level of the molten material in the furnace must not exceed a specified level, and the lower limit must be maintained at a stable level of -15 mm. Even in the harsh measurement environment of ultra-high temperature molten material at 1500°C, by placing the laser distance sensor at a distance, we achieved a measurement error of ±1 mm, and the measurement position could be visually confirmed using visible red laser light, enabling level measurement inside the glass melting furnace.

High-precision laser distance sensor specified with a sensor accuracy of ±1mm.

The accuracy is specified at 2σ (±1mm), which indicates that 95.4% of the measurement results fall within the specification range, even when measuring a distance of 100 meters.

To explain specifically: - Stochastic error (probabilistic error) arises from noise from components, the environment, or space. - Temperature error is dependent on the temperature of the components and materials used. - Color shift error is caused by differences in the characteristics of the measurement surface (black or white, and also reflectivity). Dimetix places importance on providing high-precision and accurate products as a trusted service to users, and we indicate the quality of our products at 2σ to ensure customers recognize it. 【Features】 ■ High-speed measurement achieving 250Hz ■ 100m measurement (500m when using a dedicated reflector) ■ Compact and lightweight at 350g (140x78x48mm) ■ Operating temperature range -40℃ to +60℃ ■ Compatible with various interfaces (RS232C/RS422/PROFINET/EtherNet/EtherCAT) ■ Compliant with IP65

The diameter of the pipe can be measured automatically using a laser distance sensor.

It is possible to automatically measure the diameter of pipes with a thickness of 150mm or more without human intervention. The length of the pipe does not matter.

By using two laser distance sensors and directing a 90° laser beam onto the pipe wall, we measure the diameter by summing the data from each of the two laser distance sensors. The operating temperature of the laser distance sensors is -40 to +60°, allowing measurements even in harsh environments. Additionally, the measurement speed is high at 250Hz, contributing to labor-saving in measurement time. Our company provides comprehensive support for usage methods, installation, control software development, and technical support.
