In 2012, we developed a submerged box guidance system for the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge using ultrasonic positioning devices in the tunnel for the construction of the bridge. This system allows for the accurate guidance of submerged structures such as caissons at great water depths, even underwater. For the first time in the world, measurements were taken wirelessly, making installation easy. For subsequent boxes, GPS is no longer necessary, and using an underwater disconnection device minimizes the burden on divers. Additionally, measurements are only taken at the joint surfaces and the position of the measuring instruments, freeing us from the pressure of measurement. The accuracy is within 5 cm at a depth of 10 m. As a result, our company can provide technology from the submerged box positioning system using GPS and inclinometers (simple guidance system) to the final stage of hydraulic joining. We can position structures with an accuracy of within 10 cm at depths of up to 500 m, which can also be used for the Second Seikan Tunnel and the tunnel from Pukje Island to Jeju Island. Our submerged structure guidance system is suitable for any type of structure. This is a large-scale underwater guidance system for structures.
