Ni-W alloy plating is said to be an alternative to chrome plating, possessing high corrosion resistance and high hardness. It has corrosion resistance that is not affected by hydrofluoric acid or nitric acid, with a hardness of Hv 600 to 700, and a high hardness of Hv 1300 after heat treatment. It boasts high corrosion resistance due to its higher phosphorus (P) composition compared to high-phosphorus types of electroless nickel. Being an electroplated product, it achieves lower costs than electroless plating. It is used in watches and leather bands, with approximately 20 million units in use.
