Since April 2022, applications for the "Subsidy for Promoting Work Style Reform" for the fiscal year 2022 have been accepted. This subsidy provides financial assistance to small and medium-sized enterprise owners who are working on creating an environment aimed at reducing working hours and promoting annual paid leave, covering part of the costs incurred in implementing these measures. This year, in addition to the "Annual Leave Promotion Support Course" and the "Work Interval Introduction Course," a new "Proper Management of Working Hours Promotion Course" has been established. This subsidy also applies to POSCO products and has a track record of being adopted. It is a subsidy that we receive inquiries about every year.

How is everyone doing amidst the ongoing uncertainty of COVID-19? Living with masks has become the norm, and I personally feel that new lifestyles, such as avoiding the three Cs (closed spaces, crowded places, and close-contact settings), are becoming more ingrained. Currently, I also realize that online meetings (web conferences) have become quite mainstream during this pandemic. At POSCO, we had been conducting online demonstrations for customers nationwide even before the pandemic, but I believe that the barriers to online demos have become significantly lower since the onset of COVID-19.

This fiscal year, the application for IT introduction subsidies has started from April. Continuing from the previous year, POSCO's products and systems are eligible tools for the IT introduction subsidy 2022, and applications are now possible. The scope of eligibility has changed from the previous year, making it easier to apply, so we would like to inform you of the changes and the requirements for application as follows. ● Changes from the last time ✔ The POS cash register system for the medical industry, "RecePOS (R)," and the POS cash register system for the retail industry, "Urekko," will be classified as "Digital Infrastructure Introduction Type" this fiscal year. ⇒ Last year, the type of application varied depending on the type of register, but this year, regardless of the type of register, all applications will fall under the "Digital Infrastructure Introduction Type." ✔ Not only software but also hardware has become eligible. ⇒ Last year, only software was eligible, but starting this year, cash register equipment such as automatic change dispensers has also become eligible for subsidies. Since hardware has been added to the eligibility along with software, the subsidy amount has changed from the previous year.

In March 2022, the "Uji Studies" supplementary textbook (revised edition) published by the Uji City Board of Education in Kyoto introduces the semi-self-service POS register as a product that continues to evolve through daily demonstration experiments in fields such as healthcare and distribution. A product photo of Posco's semi-self-service register was featured again as "a register that is further spreading." Other evolving products such as smart speakers and dog-shaped robots are also introduced. Moving forward, Posco will contribute to the development of a diverse and rich society through cooperation in new technology development, including product development and research, as well as educational activities.

POSCO Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Miyazaki City, Miyazaki Prefecture, President: Jota Koizumi) is pleased to announce that its electronic medical record and receipt-linked POS system "ResePOS(R)" for the medical industry, as well as its POS system for the retail industry, have been certified as eligible tools for the IT introduction subsidy 2022 under the supplementary budget for the fiscal year 2019 and the supplementary budget for the fiscal year 2021, specifically for the "Subsidy for IT Introduction to Improve Service Productivity." POSCO will provide consultations regarding this application.

The other day, I visited an ophthalmology clinic in Okinawa Prefecture to deliver a POS system. They have introduced a semi-self checkout, which has been gaining more interest among our lineup. Before the introduction of the semi-self checkout, there were often concerns about whether elderly patients would be able to operate it well, but once it was in operation, it was often reassuring to see that they adapted to the operation more quickly than expected. In particular, with the semi-self checkout, staff members operate it close to the patients, so if a patient has any questions about the operation, they can respond immediately, allowing for smooth operation and seemingly maintaining patient satisfaction.

Recently, my client, Workway Co., Ltd., which operates more than 15 specialty stores selling uniforms, work supplies, casual wear, etc., primarily in Kochi Prefecture, opened a new store in Takamatsu City, Kagawa Prefecture. Workway has expanded its stores not only in Kochi Prefecture but also in Kagawa and Ehime Prefectures. This will be their second store in Takamatsu City. The cash register system is linked to an automatic change dispenser and is integrated with a credit card payment terminal.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been an increase in inquiries regarding semi-self-checkout systems and systems linked to cashless payment terminals in order to avoid contact with customers. In my daily conversations with customers, I have heard more and more requests from those visiting our store (or clinic) expressing a desire to pay using "credit cards," "electronic money," or "QR code payments," leading to more consultations about considering their implementation.
