The "saturable reactor" adjusts the amount of electric current flowing through it by electromagnetic induction. It functions similarly to a thyristor but has excellent constant current characteristics. Additionally, it has a low harmonic content, can handle larger currents, and possesses high mechanical strength. For this reason, it is actively used as a power control device in equipment that requires high reliability and experiences significant load fluctuations, such as melting furnaces for metals, silicon, glass, and ceramics.
