Wood species: Red Pine (Matsumatsu, European Red, Scotch Pine, Russian Red Pine) Variety: Family Pinaceae, Genus Pinus, Coniferous tree Specific gravity: 0.53 Origin: Russia Characteristics: Hardness is moderate to slightly hard. Strength is high. The grain is mostly straight, but the surface texture is coarse. Workability is good. Decay resistance is moderate, but water resistance is excellent. It is durable in water (previously used for the foundations of large buildings). Uses: Shelf boards, interior materials, furniture materials, building materials, stair materials, handrails, custom materials (friction parts of door frames and thresholds, floor pillars), frame materials. Caution: Due to the high resin content, oil pockets may be present, and resin can stain the surface. It is prone to discoloration due to blue stain fungi.
